BankID in Norway
BankID is a Norwegian electronic identification system used to identify yourself and sign documents and agreements online.
You can use BankID to log in to many Norwegian public and private digital services.
BankID can be used for services such as online banking, signing agreements and accessing certain public services.
To get BankID, you normally need to have a banking relationship with a Norwegian bank that offers BankID.
The bank determines whether you meet its requirements for obtaining BankID and which identification documents you need to provide.
BankID is personal. You must never give your BankID password, one-time codes or other authentication information to another person.
Banks and public authorities will not ask you to give another person control of your BankID authentication.
If you suspect that someone has obtained access to your BankID credentials, contact your bank immediately and follow the bank's instructions for blocking or securing your BankID.
BankID is an electronic identity solution. It is different from a passport, residence card or Norwegian personal identification number.
The exact process for obtaining or renewing BankID can differ between banks. Contact your bank for current information about its requirements.
