How Migrant Assistant uses information when you browse, contact us or ask the AI Assistant.
Who is responsible?
ORIVIS (organisation number 938 480 397), Einervegen 3A, 2150 Årnes, Nes, Norway, operates Migrant Assistant. Contact contact@migrantassistant.com about your privacy.
Browsing
You can read the site without an account. Hostinger may process your IP address, request time and other technical data to deliver and secure the site. The server also temporarily limits repeated API requests. Our basis is our legitimate interest in operating and securing the service. Hosting logs follow the provider’s retention settings; we cannot give a verified deletion period for them.
Contact
If you send us a message, we receive your name, email address and message through Hostinger Mail so we can reply. Our basis is our legitimate interest in responding. The application does not save a separate contact record. We manually delete closed correspondence within 12 months of the last exchange, unless the law requires longer retention. Provider logs and backups may remain for their own retention periods.
AI Assistant
Your question and relevant excerpts from our knowledge base go to OpenAI to produce an answer. If the primary service is unavailable, Google may process your question as a backup; this can also happen when translating a question. This optional feature is provided at your request, based on our legitimate interest in answering. Please do not enter passport numbers, health details or other sensitive information. The application does not keep a separate question history. Requests to OpenAI use store: false, but providers may retain data under their safety and service terms. AI answers do not decide your legal status or eligibility for public services. For questions about life in your selected country, OpenAI may also use your question to search the web and provide links to sources.
Language and storage
When you select a language, its code is kept for this browser session. If you explicitly select ‘Remember my language’, it is also stored on this device until you turn that option off or clear the site data. The code may also appear in a translated page’s URL. Our application code does not set advertising or analytics cookies. Necessary hosting technologies may still be used to provide the site.
Providers and transfers
Hostinger provides hosting and email; OpenAI and Google provide AI processing as described above. Processing by these providers may occur outside the European Economic Area. Contact us for details of processing locations, transfer safeguards and provider retention. When you follow links to authorities and other services, their own privacy notices apply.
Your rights
Contact and AI Assistant are optional, but we need the information you submit to answer. You can request access, correction, deletion or restriction of your data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Portability may apply in some cases. Email contact@migrantassistant.com. You may complain to the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet).
