Citizenship after EU/EEA registration
This citizenship route concerns an EU/EEA citizen who has used the registration scheme in Norway. Registration is a record of your stay; it is not Norwegian citizenship and does not replace the citizenship application.
Check residence and other conditions
UDI considers whether you have lived in Norway with a right of residence for the required period. The period and any exceptions depend on your personal circumstances, including age. Evidence of work, self-employment, studies or another basis for residence can help show that the right existed. Citizenship also has identity and, for many adults, language and citizenship-test conditions.
Prepare the application
Collect identification, records covering the years in Norway and any test documentation that applies. Register the citizenship application, use the generated checklist to find the documents for your category, pay any applicable fee and submit the documents as directed. UDI checks the facts before deciding; an EU/EEA registration certificate alone is not a citizenship decision.
