Waiting for a protection decision
Keep documents current, follow correspondence and reception instructions, and check work rights separately.
Identify the rules for your application
Record the date your application was lodged. The EU procedural regulation applies to applications lodged from 12 June 2026; earlier applications follow the previous procedural framework. Ask which procedure and deadlines apply to your case, including accelerated, border or admissibility examination. A general website estimate is not a guaranteed decision date.
Keep contact and documents current
Keep your case number, temporary document, requests and proof of delivery together. Inform the Office promptly of address changes and check the official correspondence channel. Ask about renewal before your document expires. Not collecting a letter or moving without updating the Office can have serious procedural consequences; seek help promptly if a deadline was missed.
Follow reception and care instructions
Follow the written referral to the reception facility and its deadline; clarify requirements immediately even if you plan to live privately. Ask the Office about accommodation, assistance, the designated medical-care route and schooling for children. The applicant-assistance system is not automatically the same as ordinary NFZ insurance or UKR benefits. Report urgent health or safeguarding needs.
Check work and travel separately
An application alone does not automatically authorise employment. Ask the Office which waiting-period conditions, certificate and identity document are required under your rules before starting work. Remain in Poland as required; a temporary identity certificate is not a travel document. Get advice before withdrawal, departure or moving to another country: these can affect the case and assistance.
