Dobry Start: annual school support
Prepare a separate application for the 300 zł school-year benefit and check the current foreign-resident rules.
Check the child and school
Dobry Start is a one-off 300 zł payment for an eligible school pupil, normally until age 20 or 24 for a pupil with the required disability status. There is no household-income test. Preschool, the compulsory preschool year and university studies are excluded. Check the actual school and applicant category; not every student is eligible.
Check the rules from July 2026
From 1 July 2026, specified third-country residents and UKR beneficiaries face work-activity or qualifying health-insurance checks for the month before application, with statutory exemptions. Ask ZUS which route and evidence apply; these are not simply identical to every 800+ rule. Residence with the child matters; UKR also requires schooling in the Polish education system.
Apply in the annual window
Submit electronically to ZUS from 1 July to 30 November for the relevant school year. Use eZUS or another channel supported for your category. Prepare identification, PESEL, status and care evidence, school details and a bank account. An earlier 800+ application does not replace this application.
Keep track of the result
Keep submission proof, check eZUS and answer any missing-document request. Confirm the award and transfer to the stated account; applying does not itself guarantee payment. If refused, follow the decision’s specific appeal instructions. Do not wait until the final day to resolve an incorrect school, status or applicant record.
