NFZ and patient rights: where to ask or complain
Separate insurance and funded-service questions from treatment concerns and patient-rights violations.
Identify the problem
NFZ finances contracted healthcare and can clarify entitlement, contracted providers and related administrative matters. Medical appointments are arranged with the provider. If an entitlement record appears wrong, prepare insurance or other entitlement evidence and contact the payer or NFZ as appropriate. A problematic electronic check alone does not settle whether you really have a right to treatment.
Prepare a factual account
Write your name and address, the provider concerned, dates and a clear description of what happened. Keep referrals, invoices, registration messages and relevant records; send only material needed for the case. Include authorisation if acting for another person. Ask the provider for clarification when useful, without delaying urgent medical help.
Choose the responsible body
NFZ can examine access and funding issues at providers contracted with it, including improper charges for covered services. It does not assess a doctor’s medical decisions. The Patient Ombudsman deals with patient-rights concerns, while the provider’s management can address organisation and staff behaviour. Clinical or professional-conduct concerns may require a different professional body.
Submit through a current official channel
Follow the relevant institution’s current complaint instructions, including its form, postal or electronic channels. Keep proof, reference numbers and replies, and provide any requested details. A complaint is not an emergency-care request or a guarantee of compensation. It also does not replace a specific appeal against an administrative decision. Use the Healthcare guides for insurance and booking steps.
