Long-term EU resident permit in Poland
Check qualifying residence, continuity, income, insurance and accepted Polish language evidence.
Qualifying residence
The ordinary long-term EU resident route requires at least five years of lawful, continuous qualifying residence. Not every lawful stay counts, and some periods count only partly. Do not calculate eligibility by simply counting years since arrival.
Prepare the residence timeline
List every permit, visa and protection status, with dates and trips abroad. Study and training periods have special counting rules; Blue Card mobility and international protection can also require separate calculations. For temporary protection or a later CUKR status, verify which period is counted under the current rules.
Other requirements
Prepare evidence of stable and regular lawful income for the required assessment period, health insurance and accepted Polish language evidence. B1 state certification is one accepted route; use the current list of accepted documents and exemptions. Also check the required legal title to your accommodation.
Apply for the correct status
Follow the current MOS submission procedure, keep UPO and attend when summoned. This permit is different from Polish national permanent residence and from citizenship. An indefinite residence status still involves keeping the residence card valid. It does not automatically grant a right to live or work in every other EU country.
